Education and Certification

The World Handicap System (WHS) launched on Jan. 1, 2020. Due to significant changes to the handicap system, all clubs MUST be certified by June 30, 2020. In order to be certified, a representative from the club is required to attend an online webinar or complete a self study program and pass an online exam. A list of certifed clubs may be found here.

WHS Education Webinars

With consideration to the potential impact that COVID-19 has had on our schedule, we are pleased to provide additional education support to help golf clubs understand the changes that have taken place with the implementation of the World Handicap System. These webinars will be conducted by USGA staff and provide additional opportunities for clubs seeking to fulfill their education requirement to use the WHS. Self Paced Online Certification

An online World Handicap System education and certification program is available here. This program was developed to assist golf clubs who are unable to attend a scheduled workshop. It consists of four educational video segments, with each segment made available after the previous one has been viewed. After all segments have been completed, the 20-question quiz will be made available. Quiz submissions will be reported to the USGA and CSGA for results recording purposes. A PDF version of the Rules of Handicapping is available for download or a Rules of Handicapping book may be ordered online.

Club Presentation

A  World Handicap System Presentation created for educating club members is available here. This presentation is intended to provide a one hour overview of the WHS and Rules of Handicapping.
