Monte
Mullen Wins 69th
Connecticut
Junior Amateur
July
15, 2010 – Monte Mullen, Farmington Country Club, has never made
a more satisfying par than the one he made on the sixteenth hole
in this morning’s Connecticut Junior Amateur finals.
His short putt made him the 69th Connecticut
Junior Amateur Champion.
Mullen
did not lose a hole over the first nine of the match and was up
two at the turn. He
did fall back one after Kevin Jud, Timberlin Golf Club, made par
on the eleventh hole. Mullen
would get that lead right back on the twelfth hole after making
his second birdie of the day.
The match would go back and forth for the next few hole
until Mullen finally defeated Jud 3 & 2.
Congratulations
to both finalists who played extremely well throughout the last
four days. Both
players will be representing
Connecticut
later this summer at the New England Junior Amateur Championship
to be held August 16-18 at Abenaqui Country Club in
Rye Beach
,
New Hampshire
.
