Fifty-Six
Players Advance to 7th Russell C. Palmer Cup
May 11, 2010 – A
morning that began with a one hour frost delay ended with
fifty-six players advancing to the 7th Russell C.
Palmer Cup Championship. The
Palmer Cup Championship will be held May 24-25, 2010 at Rolling
Hills Country Club in
Wilton
,
Connecticut
.
Geoff Schneider from
Wilton
and a member of Sterling Farms Golf Course was medalist after
birdying three of his final six holes for a round of one-under par
70. Tom Scarrozzo,
2008 CT Mid-Amateur Champion, from Blue Fox Run Golf Course was
one of several past CSGA major champions to advance to the
championship proper. Others
included two time Mid-Amateur Champion Jim Gentile and 2002 CT
Public Links Champion Rich Wilczewski.
The final field for the
Palmer Cup will also include the thirty-four exempt players for a
total of ninety players. The
7th Russell C. Palmer Cup will begin on May 24th
and conclude with thirty six holes on May 25th.
