Wethersfield, Connecticut (April 17, 2023) – Three players shared the title in the Tettelbach Open Division while Rick Lawrence earned the Siderowf Gross Division victory at the Wethersfield Country Club One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.
On an overcast and at times rainy day Eric Bleile, Cody Paladino, and Andrew Cavasino finished even-par to earn a three-shot victory in the Tettelbach Open Division over two-time player of the year Patrick Griffin (+3).
Bleile, who tied for third at the Stonington Country Club last week, turned in a compelling scorecard. After eight consecutive pars to begin his round Bleile bogeyed three straight from Nos. 9-11 before rebounding with birdies on Nos. 12, 14, and 15. Following his up and down seven hole stretch Bleile parred his way to the house.
The round of Cody Paladino, last week’s winner at Stonington CC, took more twists and turns than a switchback trail. Paladino was 2-over through six holes before holing out for eagle on the 373-yard par-4 seventh and then birdieing the ensuing hole to jump to 1-under. Three pars followed before Paladino recorded three bogeys and two birdies over the course of the next six holes. The wild ride finally came to a close with a par on the last. When all was said and done Paladino’s even-par 71 totaled five bogeys, three birdies, and an eagle.
Andrew Cavasino earned his way to the top of the leaderboard with a three birdie, three bogey effort. A T5 finisher a week ago, Cavasino rolled in his birdies on Nos. 1, 2, and 17.
The top five of the Tettelbach Open Division was rounded out by Kevin Josephson and Jason Goshdigian, both of whom shot 4-over 75 to tie for fifth.
On his way to winning the Siderowf Gross Division Rick Lawrence put together a 1-over 72 that earned him a one-stroke victory over a group of four players that included Gary Mattesen, Mark Vasington, Bill Hermanson, and Dave Szewczul.
Lawrence played steady golf throughout the day carding two birdies and three bogeys. His first birdie of the round came on the par-4 fourth while his second birdie fell on the par-3 17th.
The Tettelbach Net Division title went to Spencer Baughn and Adam Pogorzelski at 1-under. One shot back at even-par in a tie for third was Bleile, Mike Patkoske, Greg Dubois, and Cavasino.
In the Siderowf Net Division Erin Kinney (-5) earned a one shot victory over runner-up Nick Snyder (-4). Scott Harger (-2) was third while Lawrence and Mattesen shared fourth at 1-under.
