2018 Championship Registration Begins March 1st

With the start of the 2018 CSGA season right around the corner, the CSGA announced that online registration for all championships will begin March 1st.

This year’s championship season will kick off as it always does with the Two Man Championship “In Honor of Bill Hermanson” at Black Hall Club on April 30th.  The men's side of the CSGA calendar will see a return to several of the oldest and most historic courses in Connecticut while the women's championships see a number of firsts.

The Connecticut Women's Open and Connecticut Women's Amateur will be played at Innis Arden Golf Club (Old Greenwich) and Hartford Golf Club (West Hartford) respectively for the first time in tournament history.  These two clubs are two of the oldest courses in Connecticut and join a list of other historic sites that will be hosting championships in 2018 including:

Country Club of Waterbury (116th Connecticut Amateur)
Country Club of Farmington (15th Russell C. Palmer Cup)
New Haven Country Club (84th Connecticut Open)
Shorehaven Golf Club (73rd Connecticut Senior Amateur)

“Our staff has worked extremely hard over the past year to secure superior sites for our growing list of championships” said CSGA Vice President Shelly Guyer, “We are looking forward to bringing our championships to these Member Clubs and providing exceptional experiences for all of our male and female competitors.”

In 2018, the CSGA will conduct more than 80 days of competition. Competitions include junior and senior events, events for both men and women, as well as the One Day Series which is designed for both the high and low handicap player. The CSGA will once again be instrumental in conducting the CIAC High School State Championships in June.  The CSGA will also conduct a record 10 USGA qualifiers including a Connecticut first when Lyman Orchards Golf Club hosts the US Mens & Womens Four-Ball qualifiers on the same day in late August.

Information about all events – including format, eligibility, entry fees, exemptions and qualifying sites (where applicable) and policies & procedures – can be found at csgalinks.org under the “Championships” and “One Days Events” sections.
