Lane, Jones Winners at Norwich GC One Day

Dave Jones won his first One Day Tournament of the season.

Norwich, Connecticut (September 28, 2023) – David Lane and Dave Jones were stellar throughout the day as they captured the titles at the Norwich Golf Club One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.

In the Tettelbach Open Division David Lane fired a 3-under 68 to win the title by five shots. Lane, the only player to finish under par, bogeyed the opening hole and double-bogeyed the final hole but in between played lights-out golf.

Final Results

His first of six birdies came on the par-5 fifth as he played Nos. 5-17 in 6-under. His additional birdies fell on Nos. 7, 8, 14, 16, and 17.

Mark Eells and Steven Ferraro tied for second at 2-over while Steve Joyner, Uttdom Sowinkong, and Walter Keuchkerian II all finished 3-over to tie for fourth.

In the Siderowf Gross Division Dave Jones recorded seven birdies and just two bogeys on his way to a 5-under 66 and a three-shot victory over Keith Salamon (-2).

Jones, the two-time reigning Dick Siderowf One Day Player of the Year, birdied the second before bogeying the third however it was his golf from Nos. 6-14 that propeled him to his first title of the year. Jones began his surge with birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 as he made the turn in 2-under 34. Following a par on the 10th Jones rattled off four birdies in a row to get as low as 6-under before dropping a shot on No. 15.

Unfazed by the bogey Jones settled down and parred his way to the house and to the title.

James Lawler and Mark Vasington tied for third at even-par while Rick Lawrence, Tom Cutone, Richard Stevens, and Bill Hermanson finished in a tie for fifth at 1-over.

In the Tettelbach Net Division Steve Joyner, Mike Patkoske, Keuchkerian II, and Chris Quiding all shared first with even-par 71s. One shot further back in a tie for fifth were Matt Gaieski and Luis Saca.

Leading the way in the Siderowf Gross Division were Scott Harger and Jones with 1-under 70s while Lawler, Salamon, and Mark Brooks shared third at even-par.

The 2023 One Day Tournament Series will conclude on October 10 with the Al Acker One Day Championship hosted by the Lake of Isles.
