Glastonbury, Connecticut (August 19, 2025) – Beginning their round on the eighth hole at Glastonbury Hills Country Club, Alia Godek (Agawam Municipal GC) and Dean Godek (Cedar Knob GC) put together an impressive 3-under 69 at the 88th Mixed Team Championship to earn the championship.
The father-daughter duo came in ready for redemption after losing in the playoff last year, and to their surprise, captured the title by an impressive four shots
“We don’t like to look at the scoreboard, we just play the best we can,” Alia says. “It was nice to come back and play better than I did last year and I feel like (earning the victory) was well deserved after the way we played.”
The Godeks began their round with nine pars in a row before adding some birdies into the mix during the latter half of their round. Their first birdie dropped on No. 17 to kick off a stretch of three birdies in a row to reach 3-under for the first time. A bogey did follow on No. 2, however they would bounce back in a big way on the 300-yard par-4 fourth.
Off the tee, Alia took a risk and selected a 3-wood. Explaining her game plan Alia said, “The only way I can reach the green is if I thread the needle between the two bunkers at the front of the green.”
Alia did just that as Dean picked up the story, “she hit right in the fairway and it trickled up on the green and then we had this ridiculous eagle putt but we were able to trickle it to within a foot of the hole.”
Moments later, the birdie putt was tapped in and the Godeks moved back to 3-under. Three pars later the Godeks would conclude the only under-par round of the day.
“It’s always amazing playing with my dad,” Alia said after securing the victory. “I’m happy to be here even before we start playing.”
Dean agreed adding, “when you get to play with your daughter and spend all day with her, you win before you even show up, so winning is just a bonus for us.”
Rounding out the top five were Jeff/Mia Holbrook (Silver Spring CC) and Chuck/Tess Csejka (eClub of Connecticut) in a tie for second place at 1-over, Aryan Gautam/Taylor Krieder (Tashua Knolls GC) were fourth at 4-over, and in fifth it was Danial Donnelly/Jeanmarie Vocalina at 7-over.
