Farmington, Connecticut (May 3, 2021) – The 2021 One Day Series presented by Chris Cote's Golf Shop stopped at the Country Club of Farmington on Monday where home course knowledge paid big dividends. The day started out bright and sunny but by days end the players were battling not only the course but cool temperatures, a slight breeze, and persistent showers.
In the Tettelbach Gross Division (Under 55) long-time CC of Farmington member Steve Wagner carded a 2-over 73 to share first place with former member Cody Paladino.
Wagner, a former Club Champion, recorded three birdies against five bogeys. After three opening pars, Wagner recorded his first birdie on the par-3 4th only to stumble with bogeys on each of the next three holes. 2-over at the turn, Wagner played a level-par back nine highlighted by birdies on Nos. 10 and 15.
One week after finishing as the runner-up at the Two Man Championship, Paladino put together a scorecard that included three birdies and five bogeys. Paladino found his birdies on Nos. 3, 6, and 15. The top-five of the Tettelbach Gross Division was rounded out by Seth Jainchill and Dylan Rupp who chipped in for birdie on the closing hole to tie for third at 3-over, while Ron Soccoli at 4-over was fifth.

In the Siderowf Gross Division (55 and over) Henry Wrotniak and Gary Mattesen tied for first place following 2-over 73s. Wrotniak, a member of the CC of Farmington for decades, used his experience to get around the track with three birdies and five bogeys. 2-over after five holes, Wrotniak played Nos. 6-12 in 2-under. During the stretch, Wrotniak recorded all three of his birdies and just one bogey. Needing a par on the final hole to capture the title and with a small crowd of members watching despite the drizzle, Wrotniak slipped up bogeying the final hole to fall into a share of first place.
Mattesen, who finished in the top five three times in One Day events last year, earned his share of the title thanks in large part to his eagle on the par-5 3rd hole. The eagle pushed Mattesen to 2-under and gave him some breathing room on a difficult day to score. For Mattesen the remainder of the round included five bogeys and a birdie on the par-4 16th, one of the more difficult holes on the course. Patrick McGuiness, James Brennan, and Tim Heaney all shared third place at 5-over to round out the top-five in the Siderowf Gross Division.
Mario Argentino turned in a 5-under tally to win the Tettelbach Net Division (Under 55) finishing one shot in front of Stephen Barbieri and Rupp in a tie for second at 4-under, Brad Birkhofer (-3) was fourth, while Wagner (-2) was fifth.
Wrotniak finished 5-under to claim the Siderowf Net Division (55 and over) title by three strokes over Monteiro (-2). Mattesen and Mike Natale shared third at 1-under while five players finished even-par to tie for fifth.
Additional Notes: CSGA Regional Representative Rob Josephson, playing with his son Kevin, recorded a hole-in-one on the 102 yard par-3 12th hole with a 52-degree wedge. Rob’s brother Phil Josephson is a former Club Champion at the CC of Farmington, but Rob has the only ace at the club in the family rivalry. The CSGA wants to thank head professional Jeremy Vitkauskas and the CC of Farmington for hosting the event. It was a fabulous venue, awesome food, great service, and a beautifully manicured golf course under the supervision of superintendent Scott Ramsey.
