15-Minutes with: Former UConn Teammates Chris Wiatr and Zach Zaback

(April 14, 2021) – In our latest 15 Minutes with we caught up with former UConn teammates Chris Wiatr and Zach Zaback. The duo were teammates at UConn from 2012-2015 and are just two of numerous former Huskies currently playing professional golf. During our conversation, we talk about what it is like to Monday qualify for a PGA Tour event, we ask each of them to share a story about the other from their time at UConn, what it is like to have so many former Huskies playing professionally and to share some advice for junior golfers aspiring to play professional golf.

Since turning professional Zach Zaback has played in four PGA Tour events, including this year's Honda Classic after Monday qualifying for the tournament. The Farmington native has won 17 times on the Minor League Golf Tour (MLGT) and has played on the Korn Ferry Tour. During his CSGA career, Zaback was a force winning the Connecticut Amateur in 2014 and 2016, the 2016 Palmer Cup, and earning the 2014 Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year award.

In March Chris Wiatr made his PGA Tour debut after Monday qualifying for the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. The Woodbury native has found success on the MLGT winning twice this season while also previously capturing the MLGT's Tour Championship. After completing his UConn career in 2015 Wiatr put together one of his best CSGA seasons reaching the quarterfinals of the Connecticut Amateur and finishing T3 along with Zaback at the Palmer Cup one shot out of a playoff.
