Annie Dai Holds 2nd Connecticut Girls’ Junior First Round Lead

Aoife Devaney begins the final round two shots off the pace.

Harwinton, Connecticut (July 11, 2023) – On a brilliantly sunny day at Fairview Farm Golf Course Annie Dai shot a 3-under 69 to hold the first round lead at the 2nd Connecticut Girls’ Junior. Dai will carry a two shot lead into the final round over Aoife Devaney.

Dai (CT PGA Junior Golf Association) began her round in style with a birdie on the opening par-4 and quickly rode that momentum to a 3-under through six holes start. Two bogeys did follow on Nos. 7 and 8 but those would be her only two blemishes on the day.

Results

After making the turn in 1-under 35 Dai closed in impressive fashion recording consecutive birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 as she played the back nine in a bogey-free 2-under 34.

Devaney (Eclub of Connecticut) put together a strong first round firing a 1-under 71. Her round included an impressive six birdies as she overcame three bogeys and a double-bogey.

2023 Borck Girls’ Junior winner Laniah Moffett (Eclub of Connecticut) is in third place at even-par while Zorah Williams (Stonington CC) and Arabella Lopez (Redding CC) are tied for fourth at 3-over.

The 2nd Connecticut Girls’ Junior will conclude on Wednesday with the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
