(September 16, 2024) – Eric Bleile and David Shea emerged victorious at the Shennecossett Golf Course One Day Tournament sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.
In the final regular season One Day Tournament of the year, Bleile fired a 1 under 70 to earn a two-shot win in the Tettelbach Gross Division. Three players – Thomas Labbe, Corey Jones, and Conor Deasy – all tied for second at 1 over. One shot further back in a tie for fifth at 2 over were Nicholas Palumbo, Chris Maxwell, and Ronald Soccoli.
Bleile, a winner earlier in the year at the Wampanoag Country Club One Day Tournament, put together a four-birdie, three-bogey round to post the only under-par score in the Tettelbach Gross Division. Even-par through seven holes Bleile birdied Nos. 8, 11, and 12 to move to 3 under before giving a couple of shots back down the stretch.
In the Siderowf Gross Division, David Shea birdied ten times on his way to a stellar 8 under 63. Following a par on his opening hole Shea birdied Nos. 2-5 to quickly move to 4 under.
Then remarkably Shea played the next seven holes in 1 over and with six holes to play he was just 3 under. Then seemingly out of nowhere, Shea caught fire as he birdied five of the last six holes to close in 5 under 30.
Shea was nearly tracked down by Steve Chevalier, who fired a 6 under 65 to finish second. The top five was rounded out by Bill Hermanson (-1) in third, Frank Geiger (E) in fourth, and Dave Jones (+1) in fifth.
Leading the way in the Tettelbach Net Division were Palumbo and Jones at 4 under, Derek Majkrzak (-3) was third while Walter Keuchkerian II and Deasy shared fourth at 1 under.
Pacing the field in the Siderof Gross Division was Shea (-8) followed by Chevalier (-2) in second place. Will Lorenz and Peter Czuchra shared third at 1 under with Geiger, Hermanson, and Ray Underwood a shot back in a tie for fifth at even-par.
