(December 31, 2024) – It is never easy to jump from junior golf to college golf. This year a number of recent Connecticut junior standouts made an instant impact at the collegiate level.
Cameron Besaw (Villanova): A winner in 2022 of the Borck Junior, Besaw has played in two events so far this year for the Villanova Wildcats.
Aoife Devaney (Coastal Carolina): In four events this year Devany, the 2023 Hartford Women’s Open champion, has made an immediate impact. So far her best finish was T3 at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational.
Will Gregware (Maryland): The 2023 Connecticut Junior Amateur winner had a strong start to his collegiate career. Gregware played in three events highlighted by a T5 showing at the Naval Academy Intercollegiate. Gregware posted a 71.89 scoring average with all nine of his scores counting towards the team tally.
Laniah Moffett (Howard): Moffett recently completed an impressive junior career that included among numerous accolades a 2022 Borck Junior title and an appearance in the 2024 First Tee National Championship. Therefore it came as no surprise when Moffett picked up right where she left off in college. In three events during the fall season, Moffett earned two top-seven finishes. Her best showing was T5 at the Eastside Golf Invitational.
Lauren Ogrodowicz (Sacred Heart): A freshman out of Stratford, Ogrodowicz competed in three events during the fall for Sacred Heart.
Violett Robbins (Rollins): The runner-up at the 2024 Connecticut Women’s Amateur, Robbins played in two events for Rollins during the fall season.
Luke Stennett (URI): The 2024 Connecticut Junior Amateur and Borck Junior champion played in four events for the Rams this fall and never finished worse than T10. Stennett’s best fall finish came at the Nassau Intercollegiate where he tied for fourth.
Robby Zyskowski III (Sacred Heart): A resident of Westport, Zyskowski III played in three events during the fall semester of his redshirt freshman season.
