(June 16, 2022) – Founded in 1922 the Connecticut State Seniors Golf Association celebrates its centennial as a major contributor to the growth and enhancement of the game of golf in Connecticut. An association of 250 members who are golf club members from throughout Connecticut, the CSSGA is proud of its affiliation with the Connecticut State Golf Association. Together with other affiliated organizations, the CSSGA is committed to advancing the interests of the game of golf.
Fellowship, sportsmanship, and camaraderie are the hallmarks of the CSSGA. Each year the CSSGA hosts five golf events at venues around the state. The CSSGA also conducts annual interstate competitions with its peer senior organizations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York State.
Members of all skill levels are provided the opportunity to golf, socialize, and test their skills in friendly competition. Lifetime friendships are forged with golfers in the tri-state area that carry over to innumerable invitations for social and golf activities.
In 2004 the CSSGA incorporated its own charitable scholarship subsidiary, the CSSGA Foundation, which is funded through member contributions. As the major independent contributor to the CSGA’s William “Widdy” Neale Scholarship Fund, this foundation has provided to date nearly $190,o00 in financial support for the education of deserving young men and women who work at Connecticut’s golf clubs. Scholarship candidates are evaluated on the basis of academic achievement, school and community activities, voluntary community service, and moral character.
Strong and energetic boards of trustees and directors manage the activities and affairs of the CSSGA and the CSSGA Foundation. The CSSGA maintains a website at www.ct-ssga.com.
