Ferraros Win 3rd Parent Child Championship

Newington, Connecticut (August 2, 2022) – On a hot and muggy day at Indian Hill Country Club the tandem of Paul and Steven Ferraro captured the 3rd Parent Child Championship by one shot over two other teams.

The Ferraro’s, beginning their day on the par-3 fifth hole, got off to a slow start. Following two pars to begin their round they played Nos. 7-11 in 1-over before finding their stride.

Steven moved the duo back to even-par with a 25-footer for birdie on the par-5 14th and then on the par-5 18th he found the back of the green from 260 yards out with his second shot to set up another birdie.

“The birdie on 18 was a good one to get,” Steven said. “I was trying to get it up anywhere around the green so my dad [Paul] could hit a good chip in close.”

On the next hole, the par-5 first, the Ferraro’s rolled in yet another birdie. This time it was Paul who jarred one from 8 feet to move them to 2-under. Four pars followed to close out their round as they played the final 11 holes in a flawless 3-under.

“Playing in these types of events with my son has always been something we look forward to,” said Paul. “We play golf a lot together. It is a family thing, it is what we like to do and it is fun.”

Second place was shared by last year’s Father Son winners Frank and Mike Carey; Jim and Michael Clark at 1-under. One shot further back at even-par in a tie for fourth were Eric Ashworth and EJ Ashworth; Paul and Julie Wheatley.

In the Net Division two teams tied with 4-under 68s with Sal Sabia, Sr. and Sal Sabia, Jr. edging out Chip Vignone and Prosper Vignone in a scorecard playoff.

“We got off to a rough start, we had three three-putts in the first five holes but after that we settled down and got to work,” said Sal Sabia, Jr. “It is tough playing alternate shot but it is a lot of fun getting a chance to play with your father.”

A trio of teams tied for third place with 3-under 69s to round out the top-5. The group included David Monti, Sr. and David Monti, Jr., Michael and Alexa Wolf, and the Wheatley’s.
