West Hartford, Connecticut (August 10, 2021) – At the Wampanoag Country Club One Day Series presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop event it was Shawn Hilario and Rick Malafronte capturing the titles.
Hilario earned his first Tettelbach Open Division victory of the year thanks to a 2-under 70 that included three birdies and one bogey. His birdies came on Nos. 5, 11, and 18. Hilario now has a victory to go along with three top-10 finishes this season.
John Sawka (+3) was second, Mickey Toro (+4) took third while Connor Bradley (+5) and Tyler Fernandez (+5) shared fifth.
In the Siderowf Division Rick Malanfronte shot an even-par 72 to win the title by two shots over runner-up Stuart Goldstein (+2). Malafronte, the runner-up last year at the Connecticut Senior Amateur, had a mixed bag of a scorecard with five birdies, three bogeys, and a double-bogey.
James Brennan (+3) was third while David Shea (+4) and Derek Waddington (+4) tied for fourth.
Leading the way in the Tettelbach Net Division was Carlos Medina (-7) followed by Stephen Barbieri (-4) in second, Sawka (-1) and Hilario (-1) tied for third followed by Mark Ashby (E) and Toro (E) in a tie for fifth. The Siderowf Net Division was claimed by Scott Harger at 5-under. Brennan (-3) was second while Randy Black (-2), John Crocker (-2), and Dennis Tracey (-2) all shared third.
