Thompson, Connecticut (June 28, 2021) – Jackson Roman, Colin Spencer, and John Broderick all punched their tickets to the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur set to be played from July 19-21st at The Country Club of North Carolina.
Roman, from Kensington, Connecticut, earned medalist honors firing a 4-under 68 on a hot and humid day at Quinnatisset Country Club. Roman got his round off to a blazing start playing the first eight holes in 5-under, highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 eighth. The 2021 Borck Junior winner did cool off down the stretch but his start proved to be more than enough.
Mashpee, Massachusetts native Colin Spencer carded an impressive 3-under 69 to earn his spot in the U.S. Junior Amateur. Spencer began his day with a birdie, the first of his four against only one bogey.
The final spot was earned by John Broderick of Wellesley, Massachusetts who was able to survive a four-for-one playoff at 1-under 71. Joining Broderick in the playoff were Ryan Downes (Longmeadow, Massachusetts), Patrick Kilcoyne (Belmont, Massachusetts), and Will Lodge (Darien, Connecticut). Broderick won the playoff with a 20-foot putt on the first extra hole. Downes is the first alternate with Kilcoyne earning the second alternate spot.
