Lewis, Jones Winners at Tumble Brook CC One Day

Bloomfield, Connecticut (June 27, 2022) – Ashton Lewis and Dave Jones claimed victories on Monday at the Tumble Brook Country Club One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.

Ashton Lewis, who made match play at the Connecticut Amateur last week, played a stellar round firing a 3-under 69 to finish four shots clear of second place finishers Chris Flowers (+1) and Shawn Hilario (+1) in the Tettelbach Open Division.

Lewis book marked his round with bogeys but in between he was flawless. A member of the Eastern Connecticut State University golf team Lewis carded five birdies and played Nos. 2-14 in 5-under.

Adam Matecki (+2) was fourth while Seth Jainchill, Chris Maxwell, and Steven Langlois shared fifth at 3-over.

Final Results

In the Siderowf Gross Division Dave Jones was a winner once again thanks to a 4-under 68 that put him two shots in front of runner-up Rick Malafronte (-2).

Jones, the winner of the Senior Match Play Championship and the Clinton CC One Day already this month, birdied the opening hole before hitting a snag midway through his front nine. 1-under through four holes Jones bogeyed the par-4 fifth and then double-bogeyed the par-5 sixth to fall all the way back to 2-over.

Following a par on No. 7 Jones was able to regain his form playing the final 11 holes in a bogey-free 6-under. His birdies came on Nos. 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 18.

Bill Hermanson was third at 1-under with five players sharing fourth at even-par. The fourth place group included Jeff Dolin, Ray Underwood, James Brennan, Tom Cutone, and Frank Geiger.

The Tettelbach Net Division title was shared by Mario Argentino, John Nitz, and Adam Pogorzelski at 3-under. John Swaney was fourth at even-par while John O’Toole, Steve Langlois, Lewis, and Matthew Ussery tied for fifth at 1-over.

In the Siderowf Net Division Nick Snyder won the title at 6-under. Greg Pansa (-4) was second, Paul Reynolds (-3) was third two shots ahead of Michael O’Neill, Underwood, Brennan, Cutone who finished 1-under in a tie for fourth.
