(February 16, 2024) – Marc E. Weston, certified golf course superintendent (CGCS) at Indian Hill Country Club, this year’s host of the 18th Connecticut Senior Match Play Championship, will continue to serve on the board of directors for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
The announcement was made at the association’s annual meeting on February 1, which was held in conjunction with the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in Phoenix.
GCSAA is a leading golf organization in the United States. Its focus is on golf course management, and since 1926 GCSAA has been the top professional association for the men and women who manage golf courses in the U.S. and worldwide. From its headquarters in Lawrence, Kansas, the association provides education, information, and representation to more than 20,000 members in more than 78 countries.
The board sets the strategic direction for the association as it strives to serve its members, advance the profession, and improve communities through enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf.
A 26-year GCSAA member, Weston is a member and past president of the Connecticut Association of GCS. He also previously served on GCSAA’s Certification Committee, Scholarship Committee, Environmental Awards and Education Task Group. He is also a delegate and Grassroots Ambassador.
Weston started his career as an intern at TPC River Highlands in 1994, where he worked his way up to assistant superintendent. In 2001, he joined Indian Hill as an assistant superintendent and became superintendent in October 2003.
Weston, who was first elected to the board in 2021, has an associate’s degree in horticulture from the University of Connecticut and Turfgrass Certificate from the University of Massachusetts. He lives in Wethersfield with his wife Wendy and daughters Leah and Libby.
