Sherman, Connecticut (June 20, 2023) – On Tuesday at The Club at River Oaks Molly Smith and Emma Abramson qualified for the 74th U.S. Girls’ Junior. The 2023 edition will be played at the United States Air Force Academy Eisenhower Golf Club (Blue Course) in Colorado from July 17-22.

Smith, who became the first woman to qualify for the Massachusetts Amateur earlier this season, struggled early in her round and with three holes remaining she was 4-over. Needing to make a move Smith dug deep birdieing the last three holes to surge up the leaderboard and punch her ticket to Colorado.

Final Results

The second spot was earned by Emma Abramson after she survived a 2-for-1 playoff against Cailyn Rodgers. Both players finished regulation with 2-over 74s before Abramson advanced in extra holes.

3-over at the turn Abramson played a strong second nine firing a 1-under 35 that included three birdies and two bogeys. Abramson, the 2022 Massachusetts Girls Junior Championship champion, will return to USGA competition for a second consecutive year after competing in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Two alternate spots were also up for grabs with Rodgers earning the first spot and Juyeon Paek finishing as the second alternate.

Note: The shot of the day came from Eve Krinsky who recorded a hole-in-one on the 150-yard par-3 15th.
