My Connecticut Women’s Open Victory: Tammy Lohren

(March 8, 2024) – This year the Connecticut Women’s Open presented by Crescent Point Private Wealth will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. In the lead-up to this year’s tournament at Madison Country Club from May 28-29 we will be looking back at a number of memorable Connecticut Women’s Open winners.

The first installment of our My Connecticut Women’s Open Victory series highlights Tammy Lohren, the winner of the first Connecticut Women’s Open in 1999 at Blue Fox Run Golf Course.

Locked in a battle with then Conard High School freshman Liz Janagelo Caron, the 32-year-old Lohren emerged with a hard-fought playoff victory.

Trailing by a stroke late Lohren tied Janagelo Caron with a par on the final hole then after the future LPGA Tour pro found trouble off the tee on the first extra hole she was able to secure the title with a par.

Recently we had a chance to talk to Tammy Lohren about her 1999 triumph. Here is what she said:

Lohren is still heavily involved in golf. In the early 2000s, she moved from New York to Tennessee. After moving to Tennessee Lohren spent some time playing on the mini tours while at the same time beginning a career as a Physical Education teacher. In addition to her career in education, Lohren continued to give golf lessons and she currently is the Director of Instruction at Three Ridges Golf Course in Knoxville.
