Windsor, Connecticut (August 31, 2023) – At the Keney Park Golf Course Siderowf Division One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop Craig Platt and Mark Vasington shared the title with 1-under 69s.
Platt, the 2021 Connecticut Senior Match Play winner, birdied the par-3 third hole on his way to a flawless 1-under 34 on the front nine. On the back things got much more interesting for Platt.
His side started with a birdie on No. 10 and then a bogey on the ensuing hole. Following a pair of pars, Platt eagled the 500-yard par-5 14th to move to 2-under only to bogey the next two holes. Sitting at even par as he played the last Platt birdied the closing par-3 to complete his 1-under round and wild and wacky even-par 35 on the back nine.
For Vasington, a One Day winner for the second time this season, it was a much steadier day as he birdied three times and bogeyed twice. The 2019 Connecticut Senior Match Play winner recorded his birdies on Nos. 4, 11, and 14.
Glen Boggini who won earlier this week at the Hop Meadow Country Club One Day shared third with Mark Karpiej at 1-over while Richard Stevens took fifth at 2-over.
In the Siderowf Net Division Michael O’Neill finished 4-under to win the title. Craig Ramino, Karpiej, and Vasington were 2-under in a tie for second with Mark Grimshaw finishing 1-under in fifth.
Note: The CSGA would like to thank Keney Park Golf Course chief golf operations manager Ralph Salito and his staff for a great day!
