Quinns Win 4th Parent Child Championship

The Zysks finished in a tie for fifth and won the Net Division.

Hartford, Connecticut (July 20, 2023) – The duo of Rich and Connor Quinn (Madison CC) took advantage of near perfect weather conditions at Goodwin Park Golf Course to win the 4th Parent Child Championship.

The Quinns got off to a slow start at the First Tee of Connecticut operated Goodwin Park GC with a bogey on their starting hole but caught fire at the right time. “It was a tough hole to start on,” said Conner of starting on the par-4 16th. “We were happy we got that hole out of the way.”

Final Results

Through Nos. 1-5 the team went 3-under recording four birdies against one bogey to move to 3-under. With steady play the rest of the way the pair played their final 12 holes bogey-free to finish with a 4-under par 66 that was good enough for a three-shot victory.

The Quinns attributed the strong finish to their game plan. “We just tried to keep making birdies,” said Rich. “We didn’t know where everyone else was at.”

Thanks to their game plan of trying to continue to make birdies the Quinns earned their first CSGA victory.

Past champions Les and Brett Zimmerman (Hunter GC) were the runner-ups after battling all day. The Zimmermans were the only other team to finish under par carding a 1-under 69 that included three birdies and two bogeys.

Eric (Orange Hills CC) and Justin (Eclub of Connecticut) Ashworth were third at even par, Thomas and Mark Rogozinski (Silver Spring CC) were fourth at 1-over while Dan and Donald Smith (Wintonbury Hills GC) and Craig and Craig Zysk, Jr. (Mill River CC) shared fifth at 2-over.

In the Net Championship, the Zysks won by a three-shot margin. Craig and his son, Craig Zysk, Jr. finished 9-under for a net total of 61. The duo has played in the Parent Child Championship previously and finally broke through. Craig Zysk, Sr. gave credit to his son for the victory but also acknowledged their team play saying, “we zigged and zagged all day.”
