Ellington, Connecticut (July 18, 2022) – Keith Salamon and Glen Boggini earned the titles on Monday at the Ellington Ridge Country Club One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.
Salamon won the Tettelbach Open Division with a 1-over 73 that included two birdies and three bogeys. He finished one shot in front of runner-up Glenn Pelt, Jr. Salamon opened his day with a bogey-free 2-under 34 on the front nine with both his birdies coming in a three-hole stretch. His first fell on the par-5 fifth and his second came two holes later on the par-3 seventh hole.
On the back nine, Salamon faltered a bit bogeying three times but his play on the front nine was enough to propel him to his first One Day Tournament victory of the season.
Cameron Dasilva, Chris Lomardo, Adam Matecki, Bret Lawrence, and Ronald Soccoli all finished in a tie for third at 3-over to round out the top five.
Playing on his home course Glen Boggini fired the round of the day, a 2-under 70, to win the Siderowf Gross Division. After a one birdie, one bogey even-par 36 on the front nine Boggini put together an impressive 2-under 34 on the back nine that included three birdies and one bogey. His birdies came on Nos. 11, 13, and 17.
Mark Karpiej was second at even-par while Tim Tenero, Tom Brett, and Vin Capece shared third at 4-over.
In the Tettelbach Net Division Pelt, Jr. earned the title with a 5-under finish. John Swaney (-4) was second, Jason Starkey and Salamon tied for third at 2-under while Mike Klosowski, John O’Toole, Lawrence, Mark Brooks, and Soccoli shared fifth at 1-over.
The Siderowf Net Division title was shared by three players – Scott Harger, Karpiej, and Stephen Holcomb – with a 2-under tally. One shot further back in a tie for fourth at 1-under were Tom Hurd and Steve Proulx.
