Hampden, Massachusetts (August 21, 2024) – After two days that felt more like fall than late summer at the New England Junior Invitational Amateur Team Connecticut turned in an impressive showing.
In the Boys’ Division Connecticut finished the 36-hole weather-shortened tournament 1 under and just one shot behind overall team champion Massachusetts (-2).
Leading the way for Connecticut at GreatHorse was defending champion Luke Stennett. The 2024 Connecticut Junior Amateur and Borck Junior winner fired rounds of 67-71 to finish 6 under and in third place one shot out of a playoff.
The remainder of the Connecticut lineup was rounded out by recent Maryland commit Caden Piselli (T4, -2), North Chery (T7, +1), Robby Rosati (T11, +3), Zach Munno (17th, +5), Will Gregware (T19, +7), and Austin Perkins (T26, +12).
Led by Cindy Cao (9th, +18) Connecticut (+43) took fourth place in the Girls’ Division. Rounding out the lineup were Shawna Aurora (11th, +28), and CC Kaplan (13th, +34).
Additional Notes: New Hampshire claimed the girls’ team title with a third-player tie-breaker, CJ Winchenbaugh of Massachusetts captured the boys’ individual title on the third playoff hole, and Carys Fennessy of New Hampshire won the individual girls’ title
