Manchester, Connecticut (September 13, 2021) – On a gorgeous mid-September day the teams of Tim Giuliano/Shawn Hilario and Glen Boggini/Dan Ekstrom walked away with the titles at the Manchester Country Club (Four-Ball) One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.
Playing in the Tettelbach Open Division Giuliano and Hilario lapped the field firing a stellar 12-under 60 to finish six shots ahead of the next closest finisher. Giuliano and Hilario started their day with a strong front nine turning in 4-under 32 highlighted by Giuliano’s eagle on the par-5 3rd. However, their strong front nine was only a precursor for what was to come on the back nine.
Giuliano, kick started the side by holing out for an eagle on the 299-yard par-4 10th and then left the rest to Hilario. A winner earlier this year at the Wampanoag CC One Day, Hilario recorded a remarkable six birdies in the next seven holes from Nos. 11-17 on the way to a team score of 8-under 28 on the second side. Their 8-under tally on the back nine alone would have been good enough to win the title on Monday.
Chris Maxwell/Anthony Salvador finished second at 6-under, Jack Snyder/Ken Brennan took third at 5-under while Pat Griffin/Drew Brennan and Mike Huelsman/Josh Ingham finished 4-under to share fourth.
In the Siderowf Division Ellington Ridge Country Club members Glen Boggini and Dan Ekstrom teamed to shoot a 4-under 68 to win by one shot over two other teams. The birdies for Boggini and Ekstrom came on Nos. 3, 4, 7, and 15.
Michael Byrne/Rob Bartha and Dave Jones/Tony Susi shared second at 3-under with Mike Fitzpatrick/Gregg Tortora and Tim Stilson/Peter Defazio finishing 2-under in a tie for fourth.
Leading the way in the Tettelbach Net Division were Giuliano/Hilario at 9-under followed by the 7-under David Kramer/Keith Salamon in second while Geoff Dzubin/Mike Delissio, Huelsman/Ingham, and Maxwell/Salvador shared third at 5-under.
Tim Stilson/Peter Defazio won the Siderowf Net Division with an 8-under 64, Richard Zanini/Rick Swan and Mike Lazzara/Peter Czuchra were tied for second at 7-under while five teams shared fourth with a 4-under tally. The fourth place group includes Boggini/Ekstrom, Mike Fitzpatrick/Gregg Tortora, Bill Wininger/Tom Hurd, Dominic Maselli/Scott Marshall, and Byrne/Bartha.
Note: The CSGA wants to thank Manchester Country Club Director of Golf Jordan Gosler and his staff for a fantastic day!
