Bloomfield, Connecticut (August 5, 2024) – Three players – Keith Salamon, Steven Mann, and Scott Mackesy – all qualified for the 69th U.S. Senior Amateur.
Salamon, who earned a spot for the second straight year, posted a 3 under 69 at Gillette Ridge Golf Club to share medalist honors with Mann. On the day Salamon, a Middletown native, recorded six birdies and three bogeys.
Meanwhile, Mann (Franklin, TN) played a 1 over 37 front nine before firing a bogey-free 4 under 32 back nine to surge up the leaderboard. On the back nine Mann birdied Nos. 11-13 in succession before concluding the side with a birdie on the par-4 last.
The final spot was captured by Scott Mackesy with a 2 under 70. A Bronxville, NY native, Mackesy highlighted his round with an eagle on the par-5 second to go along with three birdies and three bogeys.
Alternate spots were earned by Rob Cowan (Canada) with an even-par 72 and Philip Pleat (Nashua, NH) who finished as the second alternate with a 1 over 73.
The 69th U.S. Senior Amateur will be played from August 24-29 at The Honors Course in Tennessee.
