Yvette O’Brien Earns 2025 Liz Janangelo Caron Women’s Player of the Year Award

Yvette O'Brien celebrates her win at the 60th Connecticut Women's Amateur.

(November 17, 2025) – Yvette O’Brien came to the final hole of the 60th Connecticut Women’s Amateur holding an insurmountable advantage. She could easily have taken her foot off the gas, but simply put, that isn’t in her nature. Instead, she played the hole the same way she plays every hole – with a relentless determination. The result? A stuffed wedge to five feet that led to one final birdie and a 14-shot triumph at the 2025 Connecticut Women’s Amateur.

O’Brien’s victory highlighted a season that also included an appearance in the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur – thanks to her win at the Connecticut Women’s Amateur – and a tied for 16th showing at the Connecticut Women’s Open. The culmination of her stellar play was her first Liz Janangelo Caron Women’s Player of the Year award.

“It’s such an honor to win this award,” Yvette O’Brien, a freshman on the TCU golf team said. “It’s not only a reflection of my hard work, but also of all the people around me that have helped me get to this point. It means everything and I’m just super honored to have this award.”

From Greenwich, O’Brien spent the final three years of high school at Grandview Preparatory School in Florida. However, each summer, O’Brien returns home to enjoy a New England summer and of course, play golf.

During her summers in Connecticut, O’Brien has made a habit of winning – previously capturing a pair of Connecticut Girls’ Junior Amateur titles and now the Connecticut Women’s Amateur. For O’Brien, Connecticut is where her golf journey began, and it is where she continues to return, relentlessly pursuing the game she loves.

“My goal is to keep playing the sport I love and possibly play professionally,” O’Brien expressed. “I would like to be able to travel the world and do what I love.”
