2025 CSGA Season Opens on a Chilly Day at Stonington Country Club

A chilly day near the shore ushered in the 2025 season.

Stonington, Connecticut (April 21, 2025) – With a chill in the early springtime air, Glen Boggini struck the first tee shot of the 2025 Connecticut State Golf Association season.

“It is exciting to start a new year,” said Glen Boggini. “It is good to see my golfing buddies. Dan Ekstrom, I lost him all winter and then got to see him again here in the cart.”

Final Results

For the fourth straight year, the CSGA season began at Stonington Country Club with the opening One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.

On a day where scoring proved to be difficult Boggini, the 2023 Senior Match Play winner, put together an impressive round firing a 4-over 76 in the Siderowf Gross Divison to set the early pace.

“No complaints about my round,” said Boggini of a round that was highlighted by consecutive birdies on Nos. 15 and 16. “Some good and some bad, but overall no complaints.”

Despite jumping out to the early advantage Boggini and the rest of the field couldn’t match Dean Godek. Beginning his day on the par-5 10th hole, Godek came out of the gates hot recording birdies on four of his first five holes.

Eventually, Godek, the only player in the field to finish under par did cool off a bit but his quick start was more than enough to propel the Cedar Knob Golf Course member to a 2-under 70 finish and a two-shot victory.

Playing on his home course, Michael Hawley finished in second place at 2-over, while in a tie for third at 4-over it was Boggini, Jim Patteson, and Dave Jones.

Pacing the field in the Tettelbach Gross Division was Kevin Josephson with an even-par 72. Josephson was 1-over after the opening nine holes before playing a strong back nine that included birdies on Nos. 15 and 18. Overall, Josephson birdied three times and bogeyed three times.

One shot back in second place was reigning Tettelbach Gross Division Player of the Year Chris Flowers (+1). Three players – Eric Bleile, Ronald Soccoli, and Ben Day – all finished one shot further back at 2-over and in a tie for third place.

Leading the way in the Tettelbach Net Division was Josephson (-1) followed by Soccoli (E). Benjamin Ames (+1) finished third, Conor Deasy (+3) placed fourth, while Kevin Klepacki, Bleile, Kyle Nolin, and Flowers all shared fifth at 4-over.

In the Siderowf Net Division, Stonington CC member Frank Livingston and Godek tied for first at even-par, with three players sharing third place at 1-over to round out the top-five. The 1-over group included John Whalen, Scott Harger, and Brian Divito.
