(June 23, 2025) – The 4th Connecticut Girls’ Junior presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop is set to be contested from June 30-July 2 at Orange Hills Country Club.
This year, for the first time, not only will a trophy be up for grabs but also an exemption into the 76th U.S. Girls’ Junior that will be played from July 14-19 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Georgia.
Orange Hills CC will test players from tee to green but it is the green complexes that provide the course’s best defense.
“Players will be tested with a good mix of green complexes that will require their full attention throughout the course,” said longtime member and former club champion Peter Tomlinson. “There are holes with very subtle breaks, and there are also holes like the 6th, 9th, and 16th greens that are the most severely sloped on the course and take some experience to know the proper speed and line.”
Additionally, the front nine is much more forgiving than the considerably narrower back nine. With that in mind, players will have their best scoring chances on the opening nine holes.
“Players must take advantage of the par 5s and capitalize on the scoring opportunities on the short par 4s on the front nine,” said Tomlinson, who has caddied for Ben James in the previous two U.S. Opens. “There are three par 5s on the course and if players can put a ball in the fairway off the tee they can be aggressive and give themselves a good look for birdie.”
The 4th Connecticut Girls’ Junior will officially begin on Monday, June 30 with the second round on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday.
