West Hartford, Connecticut (August 6, 2026) – Ben Day medaled on a hot and muggy day at Rockledge Golf Club that saw three players from Connecticut qualify for the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur.

Joining Day, who medaled with a 4-under 68, were Mike Kennedy and Blake Morris, both of whom fired 2-under 70s and then survived a 5-for-2 playoff.

Final Results

Day, a past Russell C. Palmer Cup and Connecticut Mid-Amateur winner, played a flawless round of golf. Beginning his day with seven straight pars, Day then played the next six holes in 4-under, recording birdies on Nos. 8-10 and 14. Day then finished his round with four pars.

Meanwhile, Kennedy got off to a quick start with birdies on Nos. 2, 4, and 6 as he made the turn in 3-under 33. On the back nine, the 2017 Connecticut Mid-Amateur winner got as low as 4-under thanks to a birdie on No. 11 before giving back a pair of shots with a double-bogey on No. 15. However, his work early in the round was good enough to get him into a playoff and ultimately advance.

As for Blake Morris, the 2014 Russell C. Palmer Cup winner, got off to a slow start with a double-bogey on the par-4 third before rebounding to play mistake-free golf the rest of the way. Morris started to turn the tide with a birdie on the par-4 sixth before adding additional birdies on Nos. 1o, 11, and 16 to reach 2-under and earn a spot in the playoff.

The first alternate spot went to Ben Conroy while it was Grey Miller who took the second alternate spot.

Those who qualified will now look to fine tune their games ahead of the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur set to be played at Sand Valley Resort (The Lido) in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
