June 24th, 2013 – The sixth tournament of the 2013 CSGA One Day Tournament season concluded today at Twin Hills Country Club under sunny skies and hot temperatures. One hundred twenty eight competitors made their way around the par-71, 6,365 yard course in Coventry, Connecticut.

Dave Jones of Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaug shot the low round of the day with a round of 70 to capture his second consecutive One Day tournament of the season. Jones, who also captured the Two Man Team Invitational at Black Hall Club earlier this year, made the turn in one over par before making four birdies on his inward nine to post the only under par round of the day. Jones made a total of six birdies on his day, including birdies on three of the four most difficult holes. His closing stretch of four birdies in his final five holes was good enough for a one shot victory over Mike Dukette of Twin Hills Cc and Ed Dukette of Grassmere CC, both of whom shot rounds of even par 71.

In the Siderowf Division, Herb Hulbert recorded a round of even par 71 to win by two shots over Stanley Szwed of Suffield Country Club and Richard Blakeslee of Laurel View Country Club. Hulbert played remarkably solid the entire day, making a total of sixteen pars on his round. Following a bogey on the second hole, he played bogey free on his way to the clubhouse, making his lone birdie on the par-5 fifth hole.

Net Division Winners included Bill Brennan of Patterson Club, who captured the Tettelbach Net Division with a round of 65, and Ken Levesque of Middlesex EClub, who captured the Siderowf Net Division with a round of 63.

With their wins, Cody Paladino, Steve Jordan, Lou Stone and Dominic Maselli now lead their respective divisions in the One Day Player of the Year Race, sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop. New for 2013, the One Day Player of the Year and Runner-Up in each division will be awarded merchandise certificates at Chris Cote’s Golf Shop in Portland, Connecticut. Players will accumulate points based on their finish in individual One Day Tournaments throughout the season.

Up next on the schedule is the Jones Course at Lyman Orchards, which will host the seventh One Day Tournament of the season on July 8th. Registration opens six days prior to the event on csgalinks.org.
