Redding, Connecticut (July 22, 2026) – With the rain extending the 57th Borck Junior hosted by Redding Country Club into Thursday morning, two players are left to compete on both the Boys’ and the Girls’ sides.
Girls Division Finalists: Eve Krinsky vs. Lila Reiling (8:09 a.m.)
With a quick finish from Eve Krinsky (eClub of Connecticut) in her semifinal match against Sakura Downing (eClub of Connecticut), she was confident through her round and took advantage of the course with two birdies, winning the match 7&5.
The match remained tied through five holes, but after Krinsky birdied the 424-yard par 5 sixth, she took the lead and ran with it, winning seven out of the next eight holes.
Lila Reiling’s (CC of Fairfield) semifinal match against Sophia Potvin (YOC Connecticut) wasn’t quite as quick.
Tied through four holes, Potvin took the lead with a birdie on No. 4. She continued to hold the advantage, making the turn 3 up.
Not ready to go down without a fight, Reiling ran off a stretch of pars to tie the match by hole 14. Remaining tied through 18, they returned to the par-4 first, where Reiling sank a par putt to secure her place in the finals.
Boys Division Finalists: Avery Philips vs. Tiger Zhang (8 a.m.)
Avery Philips‘ (Chippanee CC) semifinal match with Matthew West (Wee Burn CC) was back and forth as Philips won eight holes while West won six.
Despite a tight match that saw just three ties, Philips remained up through almost the entirety of the match. A par on 10 put him 3 up as the two began the back nine, but West would battle back, winning Nos. 11-13 with pars to tie the match.
Unfazed, Philips won No. 14 with a par to regain the lead and then birdied the par-4 16th to take a 2-up advantage. Their tie on No. 17 brought the match to a close with Philips winning 2&1.
Tiger Zhang (USGA/CSGA GC) faced defending champion Will Lord (Suffield CC) in the semifinals, where his four birdies on the front stole the show.
3 up through eight holes, Zhang and Lord traded off holes as the lead bounced between 2 and 3 up through the entirety of the back nine.
As the duo made their way to the 17th green, Zhang’s birdie putt was close enough to grant him a par and a 3&1 victory.
The four finalists will now return to Redding Country Club for the final day of the 57th Borck Junior.
