Flament, Lee, Laliberte One-Day Winners at Pequabuck

Terryville, May 8, 2012

Paul Flament of Orange Hills Country Club claimed medalist honors in the Dick Tettelbach Division of the CSGA One-Day tournament at Pequabuck Golf Club on Tuesday with a 1-over par 70. Flament carded nine pars, four birdies and five bogies over the 6,015 yard par 69 layout, and finished three shots clear of Ben Day of New Haven Country Club and Tim Giuliano of Wampanoag Country Club. Rainy, cold and breezy conditions made for difficult scoring for the 116 competitors at Pequabuck, one of Connecticut’s oldest courses, founded in 1902.

Reverend William Lee of The Course at Yale, and Ken Laliberte of Long Hill Country Club shared first place in Dick Siderowf Senior Division with rounds of 72.  The 68 year-old Lee, a three-time CSGA state amateur champion, came within four shots of shooting his age.

Net score winners were Frank Fedak of Orange Hills, and Gregory Good of Stanley Golf Course in the Tettlebach Division, and Mike Cleary, Sr. of East Mountain in the Siderowf. Fedak carded 88 (19) – 69,  Good scored 82 (13) – 69, and Cleary returned 85 (21) – 64.

The next event on the CSGA calendar is the U.S. Open qualifier at the Country Club of Darien on May 15.  The next One-Day tournament is May 21 at Alling Memorial Golf Club.
