Norwich, Connecticut (June 25, 2025) – Keith Salamon and Scott Osler both fired 1-under 70s at Norwich Golf Course to qualify for spots in the 70th U.S. Senior Amateur. This year the U.S. Senior Amateur will be played from August 23-28 at Oak Hills Country Club in Texas.
Keith Salamon, from Middletown, got off to a slow start playing the front nine in 2-over 38 but on the back nine it was a different story. Looking to make a move Salamon recorded his first birdie of the day on the par-5 12th thanks to a chip-in and then added additional birdies on Nos. 13 and 17 as he played the second nine in a flawless 3-under 32.
“I played alright on the front,” said Keith Salamon. “But on the back, I got a few more putts to drop. The birdie I made on 12 was a chip-in from about 20 feet and I think it helped me get a little momentum.”
Continuing Salamon said, “this will be my third U.S. Senior Amateur in a row. It means a lot because they treat the players like royalty. I have thoroughly enjoyed the events the past two years!”
Meanwhile, Scott Osler (Southold, NY) carded a two birdie, one bogey day to punch his ticket. Osler bookmarked his day with a birdie on the opening par-4 and then closed his day with a birdie on the closing par-3.
A 3-for-2 playoff at 3-over determined the two alternate spots with Richard Stevens (Warerbury, CT) earning the first spot and Rob Artus (Killingworth, CT) taking the second spot.
