(May 23, 2023) – Brooklawn Country Club member Brad Tilley and teammate Pat Wilson’s run at the 8th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball came to an end in the Round of 16.
Tilley and Wilson, the eight-seed, fell to nine-seed Nathan Cogswell and Colt Sherrell 3&1 at the Kiawah Island Club.
After dropping the first three holes Tilley and Wilson battled back getting within 1 down after 10 holes but could never tie the match. The next five holes were tied before Cogswell and Sherrell won Nos. 16 and 17 to close out the match.

Brad Tilley and teammate Pat Wilson are onto the Round of 16 at the 8th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
Following two days of stroke play qualifying Tilley and Wilson finished 13-under-par to earn the eight-seed in match play. In the Round of 32 the duo bested 2019 U.S. Four-Ball winners Scott Harvey and Todd Mitchell 5&3 to advance.
Tilley and Wilson won the first two holes with birdies and three of the first four holes overall to take a quick 3-up lead and never looked back. They led by as many as 6 up before closing the match out with a par on the par-5 15th.
In 2023 Tilley, a two-time Connecticut Amateur medalist, has competed in the CSGAs Two Man Championship where he finished in a tie for second and he was also a member of the victorious 2023 Julius Boros Challenge Cup team.
Tilley and Wilson will face nine-seed Nathan Cogswell and Colt Sherrell in the Round of 16 on Tuesday morning at 7:12 a.m. A victory will earn Tilley and Wilson a spot in the afternoon quarterfinals.
2020 Connecticut Junior Amateur champion Matt Doyle, competing with Elon University teammate Garrett Risner, advanced to match play as the 18-seed but they fell 1 up in a hard-fought match.
