Simsbury, Connecticut (August 28, 2023) – Ryan Wessendorf and Glen Boggini earned the victories at the Hop Meadow Country Club One Day Tournament presented by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop.
Wessendorf, the only player to finish under par in the Tettelbach Open Division, was 1-over through 12 holes before playing impressive golf down the stretch. A birdie on the 346-yard par-4 13th and a second in a row on the 405-yard par-4 14th quickly moved Wessendorf to 1-under where he would remain for the rest of his around.
Overall, Wessendorf birdied three times and bogeyed twice on his way to a 1-under 71 that was good enough for a one-shot victory over John Murphy III who finished at level par.
Uttdom Sowinkong was third at 1-over while Patrick Biles, Ronald Soccoli, and Keven Slyne all shared fourth at 2-over.
In the Siderowf Gross Division Glen Boggini signed for a 3-under 69 to earn a one-shot victory over Stuart Goldstein and John Herbert both of whom finished 2-under in a tie for second.
Boggini birdied the par-5 second but a bogey on No. 6 saw the 56-year-old make the turn in even-par. On the back nine, the 2023 Connecticut Senior Match Play winner found another gear.
He started the side with birdies on Nos. 10 and 11, then following a run of pars he birdied the 454-yard par-5 17th to reach 3-under. The birdie on No. 17 proved to be the tournament winner.
Tom Brett (-1) finished fourth with Brian Geary (E) rounding out the top five in solo fifth.
In the Tettelbach Net Division Chuck Judd earned the title with a 6-under finish. Wessendorf was second at 5-under, Walter Keuchkerian II and Adam Pogorzelski shared third with 3-under tallies while Matthew Spindler-Virgin was fifth at 2-under.
Three players shared first place in the Siderowf Gross Division as Goldstein, Abraham Vazquez, and Herbert shared the top spot at 4-under. The remainder of the top five was rounded out by a group of three players in a tie for fourth at 3-under. Included in the group were Joseph Worthen, Mark Brooks, and Brett.
