CT Best in New England at Women’s State Team

Connecticut’s team of Lisa Fern-Boros, Jen Holland and Maisie Filler finished 22nd in the USGA Women’s State Team Championship September 28-30 at The Club at Las Campanas in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Connecticut was the low finisher among the six New England states and also finished ahead of traditional powers California, Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma.

A total of 141 players representing forty-seven states and the District of Columbia competed in the Championship.

Scoring totals in the State Team Championship were determined using the best two of three scores in each round of the 54-hole championship. The 16 year-old Filler led the way for Connecticut with rounds of 76-69-76. Her second round, three-under par 69 was tied for the fifth best score of the day.

Participation in the Women’s State Team Championship was funded by the CSGA. Executive Director Mike Moraghan said, “Lisa, Jen and Maisie are outstanding representatives of Connecticut and of all golfers in our state. We were rooting for them all week and were thrilled for their success on a national stage.”
