Aces Wild in Round Two of 18th Russell C. Palmer Cup

Waterbury, Connecticut (May 25, 2021) – Aces were wild during the windblown second round of the 18th Russell C. Palmer Cup presented by Chris Cote's Golf Shop. First Austin Cilley jarred an ace on the 150 yard par-3 8th then about an hour later 2018 champion Brian Ahern recorded a hole-in-one on the 205 yard par-3 14th. Both players will be a big part of the final round story at the Country Club of Waterbury.

Cilley (Lake of Isles Golf Club) the overnight co-leader carded a 2-over 71 and he will begin Tuesday afternoons final round still tied for the lead with defending champion Rick Dowling (EClub of Connecticut) who also shot a 2-over 71. Dowling and Cilley will begin the final round 1-under and two shots clear of Ahern (Wampanoag Country Club) and Joseph Ensign (TPC River Highlands).

The top-five headed into the final 18 holes is rounded out by Chris Fosdick (Wallingford Country Club) and Simon Trebon (EClub of Connecticut) at 3-over and four shots off the pace. Trebon had the only subpar tally in the second round with a 1-under 68 that included two birdies and one bogey.

The final round will begin at 1:50 p.m. with a modified shotgun. The lead three groups will all tee of the 1st hole beginning at 1:50 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 2:10 p.m.
