Brett Chodos, Libby Dunn win 2021 CIAC Open Championship

Old Lyme, Connecticut (June 12, 2021) – On a gorgeous afternoon at the Black Hall Club Amity junior Brett Chodos and Berlin sophomore Libby Dunn captured the 2021 CIAC Open Championship titles. Chodos was the lone player to finish under-par firing a 2-under 69 to win the Boys Division while Dunn carded a 9-over 81 to win the Girls Division.

Beginning the shotgun style tournament on No. 4 Dunn got off to a rocky start with bogeys on each of the first two holes. However, Chodos got those shots back in a flash with an eagle on the 360 yard par-4 6th. Following dropped shots on Nos. 8 and 9, the Boys Division I Champion from earlier in the week caught fire playing the final 10 holes in a flawless 4-under with birdies falling on the 14th, 18th, 2nd, and 3rd holes.

Two shots back at level-par was Ellington sophomore Bradley Sawka, Granby Memorial senior Sean Dowd and Ridgefield senior Christopher Lang shared third at 1-over while Notre Dame-West Haven senior Jonathan Bushka, Fairfield Prep junior Michael Rothberg, and St. Joseph freshman Colin Firda were tied for fifth at 2-over.
