K.J. Camera (Ellington Ridge C.C.) won the Dick Tettelbach Division of the CSGA One-Day Championship on Tuesday with an even-par 71. Lou Stone (New Haven C.C.) won the Dick Siderowf senior division with a 2-under par 69. Shennecossett Country Club in Groton, a 6,562 yard par 71, Donald Ross design, hosted the CSGA’s annual One-Day Championship.
The championship culminates the CSGA’s season of ten One-Day Tournaments. To be eligible for the championship at Shennecossett, a player has to finish in the top five, gross or net, at one of the season’s regular one-days. Ninety-One players were entered in this year’s championship.
Finishing one stroke behind Camera was Cody Paladino (Stanley G.C.) at 72 (gross). At net in the Tettelbach division, Andrew Coats (Topstone G.C.) shot 73-2 71, to edge Brandon Becker (Tower Ridge C.C.) 75-4 71 in a match of cards.
Rich Fazio (East Mountain G.C.) shot 71 (gross) to finish second to Stone, while Samuel Rio (Gillette Ridge G.C.) fired 76-13 63 to claim the Siderowf net honors over Frank Flood (Westwoods G.C.) 81-17 64.
The 2012 CSGA golf season comes to a close later this week with the annual Tri-State Matches. Hosted this year by the Massachusetts State Golf Association, the matches feature top amateur and senior amateur golfers from Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts in a team format to be played October 11 and 12 at Old Sandwich Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
