Cody Paladino of Wethersfield Country Club extended his lead to three shots heading into the final round of the 2013 Russell C. Palmer Cup. The overnight leader, Paladino recorded a one-over par round of 70 at the Country Club of Waterbury and held steady despite the challenging greens and increasing wind that the players faced this morning.

The Russell C. Palmer Cup is a 54-hole stroke play competition conducted by the Connecticut State Golf Associaiton. The competition concludes today with a 36-hole finale at the Country Club of Waterbury. Named for former Executive Director of the CSGA and Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame Member Russell C. Palmer, the event features Connecticut's top amateur golfers who are vying for the state's amateur stroke play title.

Paladino picked up right where he left off yesterday, making the turn at 1-under par and carried a four-stroke advantage into the back nine of his second round. Despite a few minor stumbles on his way into the clubhouse, his round of 70 was second lowest for the morning round.

“I started out really well and shot one under par on the front nine,” Paladino said. “Even with a few struggles on my second nine, I shot one over par, which isn't bad. I’ve played pretty well and I'm just going to try to keep it straight this afternoon.”

Trailing Paladino alone in second place is Blake Morris, a Waterbury, Conn. native competing on his home course. Morris, who plays collegiate golf at the University of Mississippi, recorded his second straight round of 70 and trails Paladino by three shots heading into the final round. Alone in third place is Kevin Josesphson, playing out of Stanley Golf Course and Personal Golf Network, who also recorded a 70 and stands four shots back.

The final round of the 2013 Russell C. Palmer Cup concludes today, with the players playing their final 18-holes this afternoon. Follow the action with live hole-by-hole scoring at ctpalmercup.com.
