May 28th, 2013 – The fourth tournament of the 2013 One Day Tournament Series concluded at Suffield Country Club, with calm winds and fast greens greeting seventy five competitors. Cody Paladino of Wethersfield Country Club and Lou Stone of New Haven CC both claimed their second consecutive One Day Tournament.

The tournament was played using a “Stableford” format, where players accumulate points based on their score for each hole. Eagle or better was worth 4 points, a Birdie was worth 3 points, a Par was worth 2 points, a Bogey worth 1 point, and double bogey or worse worth 0 points. The tournament marked the first time a CSGA One Day event was played using the Stableford format, which is designed to provide an additional risk-reward element to the competition.

In the Tettelbach Division, Cody Paladino won his second consecutive One Day tournament, accumulating a total of 37 Gross Points. Paladino, who recently captured the 10th Russell C. Palmer Cup last week at the Country Club of Waterbury, recorded a total of six birdies in his round. His win at Suffield marks his second One Day victory of the 2013 season, having previously won the One Day event at Chippanee just two weeks earlier.

In the Siderowf Division, Lou Stone continued his dominance of the One Day Tournament Series, capturing his third tournament in four starts. Stone played consistently all day and successfuly navigated the difficult greens that the players faced on the par-72 layout. He recorded a pair of birdies on the par-4 7th and 16th holes, and his only blemish came at the par-5 fifth hole, which played as the most difficult hole for the tournament. Stone will try to continue his recent momentum at the 7th Senior Match Play Championship, which begins next Monday, June 3rd at Connecticut Golf Club.

Net Division Winners included Scott Harger of Stonington Country Club, who captured the Tettelbach Net Division with a total of 37 points, and Richard Zanini of Wethersfield Country Club, who captured the Siderowf Net Division with a total of 39 points.

One of the many highlights of the day came from Ron Salerno of Wethersfield Country Club, who recorded his first career Hole-In-One on the Par-3 8th hole. Salerno used a 9-iron for his shot on the 132 yard hole.

With their wins, Cody Paladino, Steve Jordan, Lou Stone and Stan McFarland now lead their respective divisions in the One Day Player of the Year Race, sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop. New for 2013, the One Day Player of the Year and Runner-Up in each division will be awarded merchandise certificates at Chris Cote’s Golf Shop in Portland, Connecticut. Players will accumulate points based on their finish in individual One Day Tournaments throughout the season.
