Record Attendance for CSGA Rules Seminar

February 27, 2012 – Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange was once again the host for the biennial CSGA Rules of Golf Seminar.  With nearly ninety participants, the 2012 CSGA Rules of Golf Seminar set an attendance record in only its tenth year.

“We are thrilled with the level of participation we received in this year’s seminar,” said CSGA Executive Director Mike Moraghan.  “With the new Rules changes having gone into effect in January and the unexpected golfing weather we’ve experienced recently, there are more people who have maintained interest in the Rules of Golf throughout the winter months.”

The seminar was led by Malcolm McLachlan, CSGA Director, Rules & Competitions, and Jeff Witherwax, CSGA President and Director, Rules Education.  Both presenters have been Rules officials in several state, regional and national Championships and combined have more than fifty years of Rules experience.

Designed for both novices and individuals interested in learning more about the intricacies of the Rules of Golf the seminar was attended by golf professionals, club officials, and CSGA volunteers from throughout the entire state of Connecticut.

Ian Marshall, Head Golf Professional at Watertown Golf Club, noted, “As a PGA Professional it is extremely important for me to keep up with the latest changes in the Rules of Golf.”  Marshall added, “The CSGA Rules Seminar is a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of the Rules and each year I learn a little more.”

The seminar included interactive presentations and fun and engaging discussions on the Rules of Golf which are written and interpreted by the United State Golf Association in conjunction with the R & A in St. Andrews, Scotland.
