Seven of Connecticut’s best junior golfers will represent the state and the CSGA on August 16 and 17 in the New England Junior Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is conducted by the New England Golf Association and is being played at Cochecho Country Club in Dover, New Hampshire.
Along with the New England Amateur and New England Senior Amateur, the Junior Invitational is one of three majors held annually by the New England Golf Association. First played in 1967, the Invitational is primarily a team competition between the six New England States. The team score is the sum of the low five of seven scores in each round. The teams will play 36 holes on Tuesday and 18 on Wednesday to determine the champion. Rhode Island captured the title in 2015. Connecticut has won the Invitational fifteen times, most recently in 2012, and in 1998 when it was last played at Cochecho.
